Steve Fisher Biography

Steve Fisher Bio

Text reads:

Steve Fisher started writing at the age of nine. While his actress mother was busy in New York productions, he attended a military prep school in California where he produced and acted in his own plays, organized a school paper, and sold a short story to a Sunday school publication for three dollars.

At sixteen he ran away from the school and joined the Navy, where he spent most of his four-year enlistment writing fiction for Navy publications. On his return to civilian life he spent a year in Los Angeles collecting rejection slips, then hitchhiked to New York and broke into the pulp magazine market, publishing over four hundred stories and novelettes in a three year period.

With that background for his schooling he graduated to such magazines as Cosmopolitan and The Saturday Evening Post, and also wrote for motion pictures. GIVEAWAY is his latest of several novels, and he has written three plays and dozens of films, including such outstanding ones as Destination Tokyo, Lady in the Lake, Tokyo Joe and Flat Top.

A year ago he spent part of his spare time appearing on the panel of a TV giveaway show - an experience, which he describes as hectic.
